James ended up making these out of leather he had a really nice piece of tooling leather that took the impressions wonderfully. The paint came out looking close to real metal and has a pleasant tactile feel to it. The back is lined with mock velvet to add weight and make it more comfortable. Each has a pair of loops on the back so ribbons or laces and be attached.

Ah I see, thanks for the info. I'd love to make something like this, but metal is harder to work with. Might just make something out of leather then instead.
